Advisory Services can make or break a business relocation, especially in California with the Loss of Business Goodwill Statute in place. Jerry Colburn, a principal of OPC, will speak at the IRWA Chapter 27 Luncheon in Sacramento on November 13.
He will discuss the need for pro-active advisory services during business moves to ensure that the business moves successfully. Our statutory limits on monetary payments are not sufficient and sometimes it is necessary to go beyond the requirements of the law. Jerry will also talk about the importance of understanding the businesses that are being moved and he will leave some tools behind to help with the success of future business relocations. In California, the loss of business goodwill claims are often disproportionate to the cost of the real estate or the relocation itself. Agencies must be aware that pre-planning a large or complex move will pay for itself at the end of the project. |
