Congratulations to the OPC Long Beach office and our partners on the Hill International program management team on the Port of Long Beach Pier B On-Dock Rail Support Facility Program! Last night, the Harbor Board of Commissioners approved both the Program Management / Real Estate and the Engineering Design contracts for this $870 million upgrade to improve port operations. OPC will provide real estate acquisition, appraisal, business relocation, and utility coordination on this contract. This project highlights OPC’s long-standing commitment to the Port as an engine of economic growth for Long Beach and a leader in infrastructure development.

OPC Welcomes New Vice President, Steve Parent, Veteran Real Estate Services Executive

Steve Parent, PMP, SR/WA, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, AI-RRS has recently joined OPC as Vice President.  A highly-respected industry executive, Steve’s background includes strategic planning, engineering, business development, program and project management, appraisal, commercial brokerage, and real estate investment.  Steve has led strategic growth initiatives through geographic diversification and significant top-line growth. He has also managed or appraised more than 1,500 properties affected by public projects across multiple sectors including: transportation; heavy, light and high-speed rail; gas and electric transmission; water, and levies. Steve previously served as President of the Appraisal Institute’s Sacramento chapter, and is the current Valuation Chair for both the Los Angeles and Sacramento chapters of International Right of Way Association (IRWA).

As Vice President at OPC, Mr. Parent will drive top-line growth, provide program management expertise, expand OPC’s appraisal department, and leverage his leadership skills to benefit the company. Prior to joining OPC, Steve served as Director at Bender Rosenthal Inc., (BRI). After joining that firm in 2009, Mr. Parent managed right of way contracts and/or appraisal services for clients including California High Speed Rail, Sacramento Municipal Utilities District, Riverside County Transportation Commission, the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), Southern California Gas, Southern California Edison, City of Santa Ana, and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.  Steve also led BRI’s business development efforts in Southern California, achieving substantial top-line growth.  His experience as a senior operations executive includes leading a 250-person facility with $50 million in annual revenues.

“Steve’s diverse background, which includes an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA, will help him contribute in numerous ways on a multitude of projects,” said Brian Everett, OPC’s Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to benefitting from his leadership, noteworthy business development background, and extensive appraisal experience, and welcome Steve to Team OPC.”

Steve earned both his BS in Mechanical Engineering and his MBA in Operations Management and Finance at the University of Cincinnati and relocated to California 20 years ago.  He and his wife and three children currently reside in Sacramento, CA.
