The Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City, Utah, acquired a commercial motel located in Salt Lake City, known as the Overniter Motel. The project plans to redevelop the motel for an affordable housing project. The motel was occupied by 11 long-term residents and a tenant-occupied restaurant. OPC was hired as a professional consultant to provide project management, relocation planning, and permanent relocation assistance. All services are provided in accordance with the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970 and HUD Handbook 1378.
SLC (like most of America’s largest cities), is facing a growing rent crisis as housing prices continue to rise faster than incomes. Salt Lake City leaders are hoping to assist with this housing gap with funds from the RDA that will assist in the redevelopment of this motel to ultimately provide additional affordable housing in the City.
